The JDSU / Viavi T-BERD 2000 is a handheld multi-test platform that provides field technicians with a single handheld unit to install, turn-up and maintain these networks to the highest standards.

The T-BERD 2000 is a compact, rugged, and highly versatile fiber test platform built for technicians working in the field. Its modular architecture allows users to configure the unit with exactly the applications required, including OTDR, insertion loss and ORL testing, CWDM spectrum analysis, PON power measurement, and connector inspection.

Featuring a large 5-inch color touchscreen with one-button operation, the T-BERD 2000 simplifies testing while maintaining professional-grade accuracy. The included hands-free carrying case improves productivity for aerial, confined-space, and remote testing environments, making it ideal for technicians working “up poles or down holes.”

Test capabilities include a range of OTDR modules for multimode and single-mode testing, as well as a range of FiberCompleteTM modules for automated Insertion Loss/ Optical Return Loss (IL/ORL), and fault finding. Both OTDR and FiberComplete modules are passive optical network (PON) optimized. The unit is also ready for connector end face pass/fail analysis to IEC standards with a digital analysis microscope.

The PON power meter and CWDM-OSA modules also enable turn-up and troubleshooting of PON and coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) networks.

The T-BERD 2000 supports the whole range of essential fiber analysis tools, such as connection inspection, connection check, source, power meter, ORL, OTDR, PON selective power meter, and CWDM optical spectrum analyzer.

Application modules used with the T-BERD 2000 can also be used with the T-BERD/MTS-4000, and the two products are interoperable.

Boosted Productivity with Seamless Data Workflow
The T-BERD/MTS-2000 integrates various communication capabilities allowing remote control, data and setup uploads/downloads, and report transfer. The unit has one high-speed 1G Ethernet port, three USB ports, and optional WiFi and Bluetooth network connections.

JDSU 4138 RMP65 SM Fiber OTDR Module
The JDSU MP OTDR module provides the optimum performance that fiber installers and service providers need to test metro, cable TV (CATV) and FTTH networks with high-port-count splitters.

With various wavelength combinations including filtered wavelengths for in-service testing, an improved dynamic range, and optimized resolution and dead zones at short pulses, the MP module is the ideal OTDR to test any PON system with up to a 1×128 splitting ratio.

The MP module’s optical performance, combined with the T-BERD/MTS platform’s complete suite of features, ensures that testing is done right the first time.
