The Raman spectrometer allows for non-contact measurements. It can be measured through transparent and semi-transparent packaging.<\/p>\n
The FT IR spectrometer can analyze very small amounts. It can also analyze swabs or substances that show strong fluorescence with Raman spectrometry. Raman spectroscopy and FTIR can identify illicit drugs in high concentrations in mixtures and in pure form. Recently, there has been an increase in very low amounts (1 to 10 wt%) of illegal drugs. These drugs include heroin, fentanyl, and fentanyl analogs found in pills and powders.<\/p>\n
